## History of Osaka Castle
Back in 1583, Toyotomi Hideyoshi built Osaka Castle to unite Japan during the Sengoku period. Despite heavy damage during the Boshin War and World War II, it was rebuilt in 1928 to restore its original design.

Today, Osaka Castle stands tall at eight stories, surrounded by a six-tier moat and massive stone walls. With its rich history, stunning architecture, and breathtaking views, Osaka Castle remains one of Japan's most visited attractions.

## Must-Visit Places in Osaka Castle
Find these famous landmarks on your next Osaka Castle visit:

**1. Osaka Castle Museum**

Inside the main tower, the Osaka Museum has over 10,000 historical treasures like samurai swords, armor, and weapons. You can even try on replicas of samurai helmets and surcoats, including Toyotomi Hideyoshi's iconic black helmet with golden horns.

**2. Osaka Castle Observation Deck**

Head up to the main tower roof for an amazing 360-degree view of Osaka city. You'll spot landmarks like the Umeda Sky Building, Osaka Bay, and Abeno Harukas skyscraper. Keep an eye out for the "shachi" too—a creature with the body of a carp and the head of a tiger that's said to protect the castle from fire.

**3. Osaka Castle Park**

In spring and fall, Osaka Castle Park turns into this amazing haven with cherry blossom trees and plum groves all in bloom. On weekends, there are taiko drummers putting on mini-concerts and vendors selling tasty street food. It's the ideal spot to chill and relax after a day of exploring Osaka Castle.

## Osaka Castle Tips

Here are tips to make the most out of your visit to Osaka Castle:

## When's the best time to visit Osaka Castle?

Spring is ideal, particularly from late March to early April during cherry blossom season. The park around the castle, especially Nishinomaru Garden, is covered in cherry blossoms, making it the perfect spot for amazing photos.

## Which entrance is best for Osaka Castle?

For the best view of Osaka Castle, Klook suggests entering the Otemon Gate or the Tamatsukuri Gate. Both give you a front-and-center look at the Castle Tower.

## Should you buy Osaka Castle tickets ahead of time?

It's a good idea to buy your Osaka Castle tickets online before you visit. That way, you can skip the lines at the entrance and spend more time exploring and less time waiting.

## How long should you spend at Osaka Castle?

Plan to spend at least 2 to 3 hours at Osaka Castle. This is enough time to visit the museum, enjoy the views from the observation deck, and walk around Osaka Castle Park. During peak seasons, allow extra time for enjoying seasonal attractions and cultural displays.

Amazing sights, learned valuable knowledge on Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and got to make it all the way up to the 8th floor observation deck and see Osaka city! 100% recommend booking this ticket!

Just a stunning historical site. I visited during cherry blossom season and I didn’t want to leave due to the sheer beauty of the castle grounds which was adorned by the bloomed sakura. Visiting the museum is a must. Seeing the iteration of the mass expanse of the entire castle grounds during is breathtaking. Highly recommend

Product: Osaka Castle Nishinomaru Garden Cherry Blossom Viewing Night Game 2026 [*Available only from 3/20 to 4/12]
The castle grounds were amazing. The garden was beautiful but it was a very short visit unless you want to set up for a picnic. I would highly reccomend having a picnic or laying under the cherry blossoms. The inside of the castle was really fun but we rushed through it since we were headed off to another area. I l would recommend spending 3 to 5 hours here if you really want to enjoy the grounds and relax.

I visited Osaka Castle on a very hot day in early October, and wow, the heat was intense. If you are visiting in summer, try to go early morning or late afternoon. The castle itself is beautiful and definitely worth seeing. You can buy a ticket to enter the museum inside and climb to the top for great city views. I went in mainly for the air conditioning, but it was still warm inside because of the crowd. The exhibits are cool though, especially the real samurai armour and old letters. The queue was long, so I recommend booking through Klook to skip the line. The stairs are quite steep and narrow, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues. There are souvenir shops with nice Osaka Castle items, and the surrounding area is lovely for photos. A must visit for first timers in Osaka.

We booked our tickets on the same day we visited the castle. Since it was summer, we were debating whether to go inside or just roam around, as the castle grounds are huge and the exterior itself is magnificent. However, when we arrived, there was a long queue for tickets, so we decided to book online — it was smooth, and we were able to complete the tour inside the castle in about 1 hour.

A helpful tip: when you go inside, you’ll need to choose between the stairs or the elevator. On the day we visited, many people opted for the elevator, but the stairs were open, so we chose to climb up. We went up to the 6th floor, stopping at each floor to see the exhibits. If you want to finish early and can handle the stairs, it’s a great option!

All in all, it was amazing to explore this castle and see everything it has to offer.

Osaka Castle was a great experience! It has a rich history and eight floors to explore. You can take the elevator or stairs—we chose the stairs because the elevator line was long. Each floor shows parts of the Osaka War and the castle’s rulers. It was very crowded, so buying tickets in advance with a QR code helped us skip the long line. There’s also a lot of walking and stairs. Outside the castle are shops and restaurants with beautiful souvenirs. Don't forget to dress up as a Japanese general. They had costumes where they dress you up in a kimono or general suit and take your photo! We paid 1,800 yen for a photo frame. So worth it!

Really recommend booking your Osaka Castle tickets through Klook, even on the same day. It was super efficient and saved a lot of time. Otherwise, you may end up waiting in the ticket queue for around an hour before entering the castle.

The castle worth the visit. There is a beautiful view on the 8th floor and the story of the castle along the other floors is interesting. With the same ticket you can visit the Toyotomi stone wall museum which worth the visit too. It doesn't last long. Coming with the web ticket is great because the line is quite long. It goes quickly.
