Review Chao Phraya White Orchid Cruise in Bangkok

A sudden afternoon thunderstorm unexpectedly led to the most perfect birthday cruise.
Having worked in Thailand for two years, followed by intermittent travel experiences, this land has been with me for 20 years. Yet, I'm ashamed to admit, this was my first time taking a cruise in Bangkok.

June 10th, my birthday, my wife thoughtfully suggested booking the “Chao Phraya Orchid Cruise” sunset tour as a birthday celebration.

Although it rained heavily before we boarded, causing some initial concern, I must commend the staff for their excellent emergency response. They quickly rearranged seating and thoughtfully provided umbrellas, ensuring every guest could board dry.

What surprised me most about this trip was the service on board. When booking, you can provide birthday information, and the cruise company will offer a small cake. My wife even prepared a special “birthday sign” in advance, making my cake stand out among the many birthday celebrants.

As for the meal, for a sunset cruise, the portion size was just right for me. I didn't need an excessive all-you-can-eat buffet; instead, I could more leisurely enjoy the atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

Over these 20 years, I've experienced many activities in Thailand, and this cruise truly left a deep impression on me. Whether it's the price, service, or the overall romantic ambiance created, I highly recommend it to everyone.

If I have the chance, I would still choose to celebrate my birthday here again.

1. Report to Pier 4 between 4:00 PM and 4:40 PM at the designated time to exchange for physical tickets. Staff will then direct you to Pier 2 to wait.

2. Between 4:40 PM and 5:00 PM, tickets will be checked before boarding. A staff member will also take photos, which will later be sold on board for 200 Thai Baht each.

Great way to spend my birthday in Bangkok!

Booked the White Orchid River Cruise through Klook and had a fantastic night. The check-in at ICONSIAM Pier 4 was straightforward, the staff were friendly and the whole experience was well organised.

The cruise itself was the highlight — great views along the Chao Phraya River, especially seeing Wat Arun and Bangkok lit up at night. The buffet had a good variety of Thai and international food, and the live entertainment kept the atmosphere fun without taking away from the views.

For the price, I thought it was excellent value and a really enjoyable way to experience Bangkok from the river. It was also the perfect way to celebrate my birthday.

Would definitely recommend it, especially for a first-time Bangkok visitor or anyone looking for a fun night out with dinner, views and entertainment all in one.

This is a must-do for first-timers in Bangkok. Since I am traveling with my parents, who are also first-timers, this is a must-do activity for us. We depart from Asiatique, which is a pretty good choice because the space is wide, and there are many shops and activities you can do while waiting to board the ship. Inside the ship, the food is good, the entertainment is awesome, and it's always nice to see Bangkok at night and enjoy the beautiful sights. Overall, it was a good experience.

Celebrated my mom’s birthday in this cruise. It has been an amazing experience. My mom is so happy which made it all worth it. We were given front seats in the deck area. The food is nothing fancy but tastes delicious. The performers are entertaining making everyone dance on their feet. The views are magnificent as well. A must try experience when in Bangkok.

The luxury ferry night cruise on the Chao Phraya River was an excellent overall experience. ​The onboard atmosphere was elegant, and the decorations were splendid, creating a strong holiday vibe from the moment we stepped aboard. The Chao Phraya River at night is truly beautiful, with the lights along the banks reflecting on the water.
Passing under the bridges was particularly breathtaking. ​The food was incredibly abundant, featuring Thai cuisine, seafood, Western desserts, and more, and the quality was much higher than I had expected. We could enjoy red and white wine to our heart's content, and the combination of the wine with the night scenery felt especially pleasurable and relaxing. The staff service was also very attentive and friendly.

I had a great time on this dinner river cruise. The staff were wonderful, the food was exceptional, and the entertainment was phenomenal 😊 The live music and singers were fantastic, and the cabaret-style dancers did an amazing job interacting with the audience and keeping the atmosphere fun and energetic.

I was disappointed the top deck was closed because of the rain since I enjoy taking photos, but I still got some great shots from the lower deck. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and memorable experience. also warnerning- the later dinner cruises get back after the ferry shuttle system stop for the night might need to grab a ride home

There was a great selection of food - mostly thai cuisine but they also offered some spaghetti and fries (probably for kids). I personally loved the grilled shrimp & mussels. You can also get ice cream, I liked the cookies and cream flavor. Such a relaxing experience, I’d recommend trying this especially for first timers in Bangkok. The view was breathtaking especially during sunset. We also got a glimpse of the enticing lights of iconsiam during the night. Staff were also friendly and approachable. There were also singers/performers on board and they provided a nice vibe during the cruise.

This was my first time using the service. The weather was nice, but the sun was very strong and it was hot, so I recommend wearing a hat. The meeting time was 20 minutes before 5:00 PM, but the cruise didn't arrive until 5:00 PM, which made me think it was okay to be quite late. I booked the upper deck through Klook, which offered great views from the deck and included one drink, so I was happy with the value. There weren't too many or too few people, and as the reviews mentioned, it wasn't too noisy, allowing for a peaceful experience. It's best to lower your expectations for the food, but I enjoyed trying a variety of Thai dishes. The atmosphere was lovely. I went alone and had no issues. The only downside was the somewhat inconvenient access to Asiatique. However, with souvenir shops and a supermarket, it's a good spot to enjoy for half a day as a tourist destination.
