Review Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking Experience

was picked up by the driver at 1.30am from my hotel and headed to 1 more pick up to ubud. but putting a 1.85cm guy at the 2 seats behind of a 7 seater was torturing 😄. hike was manageable. a pair of good shoes is necessary as some parts might be slippery. guides were very helpful and friendly. however I dislike that there were locals who are operating the "taxi" service to the slightly higher point of the mountain from the starting point. the exhaust fumes were not something that you would want during a hike. but overall still a good experience! recommend

It was perfect!

We left Ubud at 2:30 AM and arrived at Mount Batur around 3:30 AM. Our driver, Sudi, was very friendly.

Upon our arrival, Gede equipped us, and we set off for the ascent. He perfectly matched our pace, which made the climb very enjoyable.

Once at the summit, we had breakfast (hard-boiled egg, bread, banana, cereal bar, and coffee or tea). Afterward, Gede explained several things about the volcano, which was very interesting. He also took some great photos of us.

A big thank you to Gede for this experience. I highly recommend this activity!

This is a challenging hike so please keep that in mind. Our guide was very skilled and even held my hand all the way up and back down the mountain. Although it was tough it was very worth it. I chose to do the hot springs afterward to relax. There were a lot of flies in the area and beetles in the pool which was not my favorite. Afterward was the coffee plantation which I wasn’t expecting but it was nice to try. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

I booked the sunrise trekking tour along with rice terraces and waterfall. It was amazing. My trekking guide Iketut and I climbed for 3 hours in the dark. it was a brutal hike but he was incredibly supportive & patient. At the top he gave me breakfast. On the way back down I joined the rest of the group & Agus the other guide was also very nice. I have to say that you should deftly book this tour. But be prepared for a really tough hike. At the top the sunrise views were breathtaking. Afterwards my driver took me to a really nice waterfall and rice terrace. All in all amazing day ✨🌟🌅🌋The guides here are very experienced with 30+ years experience so I say dftly book it if your on the edge!

amazing and unforgetable experience, when u go on top of the mountain and enjoy a sunrise, its a very mindful moment. Our guide is Ade and he is such a patient and friendly guy. he will check on me and my husband often "are u ok, everything good?". and he is experienced, guide us the easier walk to trek. highly recommend. Make sure u have a good trekking shoes, a jacket and maybe a hand gloves, its quite cold up there.

It was an amazing experience! A nice hike with fun terrain. We had Ketut as our guide, and he was cool and helpful. Always made sure everyone was well and if not we would take a break. He would also help you walk if you had a tough time. When we got to the top, he made us breakfast and coffee. After this we watched the sunset which looked incredible and Ketut also helped us take very good photos. I would definitely recommend!😊

The local guide and driver were very helpful!. I will definitely come to there again. The transportation was good. The scenery is so divine and worth for off 1.30am. It is safe for solo traveller.

I had a great time! Surya was an incredible driver. He was incredibly attentive and customer-oriented. When he had to stop for gas in the morning, he patiently waited so I could quickly use an ATM to get cash. He even made an extra stop just to get me a bottle of water. Truly amazing service! And Made was an amazing guide! Incredible guy! He guided me perfectly, but the best part: he is an absolute pro photographer. He knew the best spots and helped me take epic sunset pictures above the cloud ocean. The breakfast he prepared was light and refreshing after the steep hike.

Since we were staying in Kuta, the driver had to pick up all the guests before heading to the mountain. So, he waited for us in the hotel lobby as early as 1 AM. After picking up two other groups, it took about two and a half hours to reach a small cafe where we had coffee and biscuits to fill our stomachs. Then, we started the hike at around 4 AM.

The hike took about two and a half hours, climbing up steep mountain roads, which was a bit tiring and dangerous. But the guide, Amy, assisted us throughout the entire journey. Some members of our group chose to take a motorbike up the mountain due to physical limitations.

We reached the 1717-meter summit at around 6:30 AM, just in time for sunrise. Once we reached the top, we knew that the two-plus hours of hard climbing were worth it. We took pictures and enjoyed the sunrise on the mountain. Then, we had a sandwich and a banana before starting our descent. Although the guide said it would be easier, the gravel and slope were still quite steep, making it easy to slip. We saw people from other groups fall or suffer minor injuries along the way. Fortunately, it didn't rain, and the weather was good; otherwise, the gravel would have been even more slippery after being washed by rain.

In the end, it took us almost an hour to descend. The driver then took us to a coffee farm to learn about and taste nearly 15 kinds of local coffees, teas, and cocoas. Then, due to Bali's traffic, it took the driver almost three and a half hours to get us back to the hotel at almost 1 PM. Of course, we immediately took a shower and caught up on sleep.

Our trip was amazing!! Our Mt. Batur tour guide was very patient and he made sure everyone gets to the top and see the sunrise, which was very beautiful!😍we also enjoyed the river rafting and it was so much fun, i think it was the highlight of the trip. 🥰 Thanks to our patient driver, Ale. He texted me the day before to coordinate with us regarding the pick up time. He drove for us from start to finish without any issues. This trip is highly recommended!
