The time it takes to walk around Taronga Zoo can depend on how slow you or your family wants to go, how big or small the crowds are, and how much time you spend at each exhibit.

But, on average, people typically spend around 3 to 4 hours exploring the zoo. However, if you want to take your time, enjoy the views, and participate in animal encounters or shows, you can take up around 6 to 8 hours.

## What special animals can I see at Taronga Zoo Sydney?

Taronga Zoo is home to a wide variety of animals and animal habitats, including some wild and unique species and creatures that you might not find in other zoos. Some of the unique animals you can see at Taronga Zoo include:
* Tree Kangaroos: Taronga Zoo is known for its Matschie's tree kangaroos, which are native to Papua New Guinea. These arboreal kangaroos are adapted for climbing and have a unique appearance compared to their ground-dwelling relatives.
* Platypus: The platypus is one of only five species of monotremes (egg-laying mammals) in the world, and Taronga Zoo is one of the few places where you can see them in captivity. These fascinating animals have a duck-like bill, webbed feet, and a beaver-like tail.
* Quokkas: While quokkas are more commonly associated with Rottnest Island in Western Australia, Taronga Zoo also has a population of these adorable marsupials. Quokkas are known for their friendly and curious nature, making them a favorite among visitors.
* Tasmanian Devils: Taronga Zoo is involved in conservation efforts for the Tasmanian devil, which is facing a threat of extinction due to a contagious facial cancer. Seeing these unique and feisty marsupials up close can be a memorable experience.
* Sun Bears: Taronga Zoo is home to sun bears, which are the smallest members of the bear family. These bears have a distinctive golden patch on their chest, and seeing them play and explore and forage can be a delight.
* Sumatran Tigers: Taronga Zoo is part of a global breeding program for Sumatran tigers, which are critically endangered. Seeing these majestic big cats can be a highlight of your visit.

These creatures are just a few examples of the unique animals you can see at Taronga Zoo. Of course, you'll find koalas, lions, giraffes, turtles, emus, hyenas, meerkats, and more! The zoo's diverse collection of wildlife from around the world makes it a fascinating destination for animal lovers.

fuss free and easy entry, just walk straight to the entry area to scan the QR. slightly cheaper than online or over counter, very value for money and worth visiting at least once!! my own tip is to take bus 100, cheaper option and not necessarily slower as there is bus lane during the journey so timing wise may be the same time as taking car/uber/didi. reached ard 945am (opening: 930-430pm) and ended around 330pm (went through all the coloured trail, had lunch and 2 shows-free flight bird and seal) so for future guests reference on above.

Taronga Zoo is a must visit when you’re in Sydney. It’s a massive zoo so a lot about 3 to 4 hours to visit. I really enjoyed seeing so many animals including species endemic to Australia. It’s well connected to the city. And it gives a lovely view of Sydney CBD, Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

Experience: KLOOK instant confirmation. On the day, first go to Circular Quay Wharf #6 to exchange your ferry and zoo tickets. After arriving at the zoo by ferry, you can choose to take the Free Shuttle to the Main Entrance or walk 300m to the Lower Entrance. The zoo is large with a wide variety of animals, making it suitable for all types of visitors. I chose to go to the Main Entrance first, take my time to explore, and walk towards the Lower Entrance, then head to the pier to take the ferry back to Circular Quay. Overall, it's convenient and easy to manage. I enjoyed 3.5 hours of happy time in the zoo.

It's convenient because the bus waits right in front of you when you get off the ferry! It's huge, so give yourself plenty of time. There are many different animals haha. The giraffes with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House views are truly beautiful. It feels like nature and the city coexist. But these days it's so hot that most of the animals are resting or not visible. I recommend going in the afternoon rather than early morning. Everything you buy inside is expensive, so buy it outside if possible~~ The place where you can see tigers is really exciting. I highly recommend it~~ I want to come again next time.

Booked my Taronga Zoo tickets with return ferry via Fantasea Cruising and it was such a smooth experience! I travelled solo and the ticket redemption was super easy — ferry arrived right on time. Loved how convenient it was to get to the zoo by ferry while taking in the harbour views. I only had about 3 hours to explore because I had another activity after, but it was definitely worth it. Plenty of food and drink options inside, and the zoo has animals we don’t have back home so I really enjoyed every bit of it. Highly recommend going in the morning for the shows (like the sea lion one) and to see the animals more active. Plus, you’ll get an amazing view of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from the zoo! 🦁🦘⛴️

Had a great time at Taronga Zoo! We bought our tickets through Klook, which saved us quite a bit compared to buying on the spot or even through the official website. We took the public ferry from Circular Quay then the bus up to the main entrance. The zoo itself was fantastic—clean, well maintained, and the animals looked genuinely happy and active. You can tell they’re well cared for and that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was a fun day out and definitely worth the visit.

Very easy to use! Simply Show your booking and get your tix for the Ferry and the Zoo. The ferry is definitely worth it! Though, every ferry seems to board at 1 place, the Aquarium Wharf, so If you see a big crowd, it's most probably for some other tours cause the ferry for the zoo was EMPTY! and from other reviews, it shows empty as well. Do get the coffee or tea included in the ferry 😉 Also, you can cover everything in the Zoo within the hours from first ferry 0925hrs Darling Harbour to Zoo then to 1615hrs Zoo to Darling Harbour. I know it can be abit pricey but for the Experience, worth it!!!

We had an amazing time in Taronga zoo. though the place is huge, we were able to complete all the spots in about 3 hours. the animals seem to be well taken cared of, so that’s lovely. the package also includes ferry ride. just make sure to check the travel times so you dont miss the ferries and buses.
